Mud Between Your Toes is a memoir about my life - a gay, white boy growing up during the 1970s Rhodesian Bush War. This podcast started as an audio version of the book, but has now evolved into a series of conversations -- mostly of an African theme -- with characters and personalities with stories to tell. I hope you enjoy them.

EPISODE 5 - LIZ & CASPAR - MUD BETWEEN YOUR TOES
Wednesday Aug 21, 2019
Wednesday Aug 21, 2019
Having been thrown off their farms, many house wives, often of retirement age, were thrust into an alien world overseas, where they were forced to work in menial jobs just to stay alive.
Of course this experience generated many amusing stories, one of which is the tale off Liz and Caspar.

EPISODE 4 - THE OLD HOUSE - MUD BETWEEN YOUR TOES
Wednesday Aug 21, 2019
Wednesday Aug 21, 2019
In this episode, I travel back to the old house on M'sitwe farm, Umvukwes. I am with my brother and mother - neither of whom have seen the place since it was taken from my parents by Mugabe's war veterans a decade earlier.
This is both a cathartic and indeed, painful experience.

Mud Between Your Toes; A Rhodesian Farm
By Peter Wood
Mud Between Your Toes is a memoir about my life. Gay, white boy growing up during the 1970s Rhodesian Bush War. Despite this dark subject matter, this is a series of recordings that are, largely, light-hearted tales about family, independence, loss and identity. And a few hippos and leopards thrown in for good measure!
Based on my school boy diaries written in the 1970s, Mud Between Your Toes tracks back to an earlier time in Africa – a more innocent time, perhaps, but one that was also fraught with danger and an awful lot of fun.
