Mud Between Your Toes is a memoir about my life - a gay, white boy growing up during the 1970s Rhodesian Bush War. This podcast started as an audio version of the book, but has now evolved into a series of conversations -- mostly of an African theme -- with characters and personalities with stories to tell. I hope you enjoy them.

EPISODE 34 – CONVERSATIONS with ANNABEL HUGHES ASTON. This week I am in conversation with my friend Annabel calling from her farm in Livingstone on the banks of the Zambezi river in Zambia. Annabel is a writer, blogger, bush gourmet chef, lover, housewife, raconteur, entrepreneur. And now a philanthropist.

Just fabulous! Where on earth do you get all the energy Annabel? I guess it is from doing what you love with the person you love. Hugely impressed and looking forward to the book! You are an inspiration! Xxx

Loved mention of the Hoods, James the lovable rogue, who sadly died so young at 26. I remember you telling me the sad news in London when I arrived at the pub you worked in, 87? Cross ventilation and passive air flow in the tropics along with bush gourmet and falling in love with a wordsmith. I believed the cook boy story till now ! Well done both of you. Spike
